"Retinal Activation"
Primitive / Ancient / Future
What did light and fire look like when human consciousness was born?
Before humans invented fire, it was probably ignited by lightning or created by an explosion of energy in the earth.
How did primitive people feel when they first saw fire? Would they have felt awe or fear,
or what would they have felt in the flickering and blinking of the light?
In my audio-visual work, "Retinal Activation," I used abstract images to express the primitive beauty of fire and light that would have been reflected in the eyes of primitive people.
By visualizing analog electrical signals and digitally editing them, I created a landscape of consciousness.
